How it works

This tool uses a simple color-distance algorithm: it samples the background color (top-left pixel by default) and removes pixels similar to that color within the chosen tolerance. Feathering smooths edges. For complex backgrounds (hair, detailed edges) use a cloud API or server model.

For production-grade results (hair, fine edges), use a server-based model (U^2-Net, BackgroundMattingV2) or an API like remove.bg. Example flow:

1. Upload image from browser to your server.
2. Server calls model/API to get alpha matte.
3. Server returns PNG with transparency or an alpha mask; browser composes and downloads.
